Leonardo the Terrible Monster

I'm back! You missed me, right? Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller?

Hmm. Anyway, Leonardo the Terrible Monster is (another!) book by Mo Willems that we loved. Maybe I should just rename this blog "The Mo Willems Storybook Shelf" and get it over with. Heh.

So, Leonardo. He's a terrible monster. But not "terrible" as in mean and scary. He's "terrible" as in...he's really bad at being a monster. All his monster friends are good at scaring people, but Leonardo just can't do it. And he tries so, so hard.

One day, Leonardo tries scaring a little boy (Sam, I think?) and the boy bursts into tears. Yay for Leonardo! Except, not really. It turns out that Leonardo didn't scare the little boy--the boy was just having a really bad day. You'll have to read the story to see how Leonardo reacts to that. Don't worry, though. It has a happy ending.

Full disclosure: I don't receive any compensation for reviewing children's books--the books are usually just checked out from the local library.

  1. Saw you on SITS and knew immediately I had to click on over because I LOVE children's books. Mo Willems is a favorite, my daughter has memorized Knuffle Bunny and Knuffle Bunny Too. We'll have to check this one out!
