This is a sweet story, but I think it went over Little Boy's head a bit.
When Peter is helping his grandparents with their pumpkin patch, he discovers one special pumpkin growing a ways away from the patch, and he takes good care of it. Meanwhile, a shy girl moves in next door to Peter's grandparents' house. By the end of the story, Peter ends up giving his special pumpkin to the shy girl.
So, it has a nice little moral. If you have an elementary-age child, and you're looking for a pumpkin story that's not scary, this is a good choice.
