Minerva Louise and the Colorful Eggs

Minerva Louise is a pretty well-known children's book character. I think there are...I dunno, maybe ten or so Minerva Louise books in the series. So, I'm going to file this under "Classics," even though it's more the series that's classic than the individual books.

Anyway, Little Boy thinks this book is so silly. In a good way.

It starts out with Minerva Louise noticing that all of the people on the farm are dressed up, so she finds an Easter basket and puts it on her head because she wants to look pretty, too. As she puts the basket on her head, an Easter egg falls out and leads to plenty more Easter silliness.

We checked this book out from the library last year, but Little Boy didn't quite "get" it. He just wasn't very familiar with stuff like chocolate bunnies and marshmallow chicks, both of which appear in this book. He liked the colorful illustrations, though.

This year, Little Boy totally gets it. He points out all the silly parts. "That's so silly!" Much better reading experience this year.

Full disclosure: I don't receive any compensation for reviewing children's books--the books are usually just checked out from the local library.
